With that being said - confront him. What you think is going on is SO much worst from what reality is. If you don't say something, it's going to eat you up inside. Plus, now that you have told friends about it, they are going to act weird/differently around him. It's the beginning of something small and stupid that will blow way out of proportion and lead to a huge argument and maybe even end the relationship. And if your worst fears are true - isn't better to know sooner as apposed to later.
