I use Xanga and really like it. I don't have much experience with the others, so I guess I am unable to compare them to xanga fairly.
I think xanga is trying to improve the ability to connect with people who have similar interests and to help people interact more. They seem interested in making the site user friendly and as well as making positive changes that are making the site more interesting to use too. I don't get spammed on my site either, which I really like also.
I really like the keywords (tags) feature, where you can find blogs about a certain topic too.

Live journal sounds better. Xanga kind of got boring
